Senceive Shortlisted for 2020 Tunnelling Awards

We’re delighted to have been shortlisted by New Civil Engineer in their 2020 Tunnelling Awards competition. Our entry in the category for Innovation in Instrumentation & Monitoring highlights the use of our optical displacement sensors (ODS) and tiltmeters in a series of Spanish tunnels that are being refurbished so they can be incorporated into the European Mediterranean Rail Corridor.

Our Iberian partners Instop deployed wireless monitoring systems in three tunnels on behalf of main contractor Dragados to check the impact of construction works, which include track lowering and re-lining. Instop installed hundreds of wireless sensors inside the three tunnels, as well as borehole instruments to check for settlement of the ground above.

The instrumentation will detect movement and monitor convergence and divergence throughout the work, and for years to come – thanks to its long-life, low-maintenance capability.
